LEGO has been able to surprise us with special sets for years. And they are not only fun for children. Many adults also like to build beautiful sets that they can use for a long time. The toy manufacturer knows this and responds to this by releasing sets that appeal to an older target group. Last week, LEGO launched the Ghostbusters ECTO-1 and that seems like a perfect gift for the holidays.
Converted Cadillac ambulance
This latest launch isn’t the first time LEGO has released Ghostbusters’ converted Cadillac ambulance. Collectors may have the older version, but it is a lot smaller. This version is also much more detailed. LEGO and Ghostbusters enthusiasts will appreciate this iconic car. The steering wheel works, the car has a trapdoor, a ghost catcher, extendable seat and the set of course comes with the famous Ghostbusters logo. You have to make some space for this showpiece. The ECTO-1 is in fact 22.5 cm high, 47 cm long and 16.5 cm wide.
The new LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 is the most detailed replica of the car made by the toy manufacturer. And the latest in a line of movie-based adult model builds. Last year LEGO introduced the Batmobile in this series.
The set’s LEGO designer Michael Psiaki said: “I love making LEGO vehicles, and having previously designed the LEGO James Bond Aston Martin DB5, I loved working on the ECTO-1 . This is the largest and most detailed version of this car we have ever made. It’s packed with authentic features and Easter eggs that builders discover when working with this model.”
